02.03.2010 Chocolate Festival, Airside Center, Zurich Airport

Zurich Airport is staging a promotional event on the theme of chocolate from 19 February to 5 April 2010.

Passengers will have the opportunity to sample and discover fascinating facts about chocolate, as well as take part in a competition.

The Chocolate Festival has been organised in association with the chocolate manufacturers Toblerone, Confiserie Sprüngli, Lindt, Chocolat Frey, Nestlé Suisse, Beschle Chocolatier, Ferrero and Goldkenn, and will present chocolate in a variety of forms. Until 5 April 2010, passengers will be able to sample chocolate and purchase special creations at seven stands in the Airside Center. The Confiserie Sprüngli stand will offer freshly prepared Truffes du Jour every day, while Lindt will unveil its latest range, Toblerone will present some fascinating facts about chocolate-making and Chocolat Frey will appear with a chocolate fountain.

Competition for creative chocolatiers

The airport operator is also organising a “Switzerland and Chocolate” competition in tandem with the exhibition. This will involve eight apprentices from the Aargau and Zurich cantons presenting their chocolate creations in display cases. The chocolate works of art will be judged by passengers as part of a competition that will give them ten chances to win ten kilograms of chocolate – enough to keep them going during their next trip! The apprentices behind the winning creation as well as three other projects will be awarded air travel vouchers.
