The Zurich Airport Orchestra is the airport's musical ambassador.
Zurich Airport Orchestra was established in 2003 under the motto "Music brings people together". It thus functions as an ambassador and representative of Zurich Airport at home and abroad, and also makes a significant contribution towards the promotion of a shared culture among employees at the airport.
With its broad repertoire of music from all over the world, the orchestra's performances are an unforgettable attraction at special events, such as celebrations of inaugural flights, openings of new shops and restaurants, and at anniversaries, assemblies and receptions. Programmes are always perfectly designed to suit the occasion concerned.
The Zurich Airport Orchestra comprises 25 musicians, most of whom work at the airport or for one of its business partners. The orchestra thus reflects the variety of professions that unite the more than 20,000 employees at the airport.
Whether cabin crew members, market specialists, managers, IT specialists, pilots, firefighters or engineers, they are all (musical) ambassadors of Zurich Airport.
Musical director of the Zurich Airport Orchestra is Andreas Kessler - composer, arranger and trumpet soloist. He studied classical trumpet at the Schaffhausen Conservatory under Vazlav Medlik, and subsequently under Claude Rippas.
Andreas Kessler has been first trumpeter for more than 10 years, and also plays as a guest in big bands, symphony orchestras, church music ensembles and musicals. He has performed together with renowned artists such as Vico Toriani, Ireen Scheer, Hazy Osterwald, Hugo Strasser, Sandra Studer and Jeff Turner.
The Zurich Airport Orchestra invites you to a musical delight with its new CD “The Sound of Zurich Airport”. This CD is a symbol of the cooperative and successful work of the entire airport staff – in a language that knows no boundaries and is understood by all cultures.
