Preparing your journey

Passengers with reduced mobility should prepare their journey as follows:

In order to make use of the assistance, please announce your demand when booking your flight, latest 48 hours prior to the scheduled departure time, to your travel agency or to your airline:

• Please let them know your individual demand of assistance as exactly as possible.
  
  
• Please announce if you need assistance also on your way back, after landing in Zurich.
  
  
• Please give note to your travel agency or your airline if there are other specialties, for example, if you need to have a battery driven wheelchair transported or if you are accompanied by an assistance dog.

Please note that all announcements for assistance have to be made with your travel agency or with your airline. careport can not accept any direct bookings.

Degree of disability

To enable careport to make the necessary preparations, please indicate the degree of your disability already when you make your booking.

For this purpose, please make your own assessment on the basis of the following 6 international special assistance categories:

• WCHR: wheelchair ramp, i.e. you are able to walk short distances and climb stairs. You need a wheelchair for longer ways and thus need adequate assistance on your journey.
  
  
• WCHS: wheelchair steps, i.e. you are able to walk short distances, but cannot climb steps. You need a wheelchair for longer ways and thus need adequate assistance on your journey.
  
  
• WCHC: wheelchair carry, i.e. you need a wheelchair at all times, including on board, and you need assistance on your journey.
  
  
• BLND: blind, i.e. you are visually impaired and require assistance on your journey.
  
  
• DEAF: deaf, i.e. you are deaf, hearing-impaired or deaf-mute and require assistance on your journey.
  
  
• MAAS (Elderly): Meet and Assist elderly, i.e. your mobility is reduced due to age and thus you need assistance during your journey.
  
  
• DPNA: Disabled Passenger Needs Assistance, i.e. you need assistance during your journey due to a mental disability.
  
  

Please note, that all assistance bookings can only be made with your travel agency or with your airline. careport can not receive any direct assistance bookings.

Recognized Assistance dogs

Passengers accompanied by an assistance guide dog must notify the airline in advance. Recognized assistance Guide dogs are usually allowed to travel free of charge with their owner in the aircraft cabin. Ask your travel agent or the embassy of your destination about conditions of entry for dogs. Further information about travelling with animals can be obtained from the Swiss Federal Veterinary Office.
