Faster and more convenient
Once the Schengen Agreement has been implemented in Switzerland and the associated structural alterations are complete, Zurich Airport will play an even greater role as a transport hub in the heart of Europe.
Passengers arriving here from the Schengen area will in future be on home ground, so to speak, while those arriving from other countries throughout the world will find themselves at the gateway to Europe and the Alpine region.
In future, passengers departing from Zurich will already pass through the central security check directly after passport control. Within the Schengen area, passport controls will no longer be required.
The routes to the departure gates will be easier to follow, and passengers will have more time to spend in lounges and restaurants, and for leisurely duty-free shopping.
Passport controls for arriving passengers from a Schengen-origin will no longer be necessary, though goods inspections will be carried out as before. For passengers transferring to fl ights within the Schengen area, routes to departure gates will be short and security checks will not be required.
For transfer passengers who enter or leave the Schengen area via Zurich Airport, all necessary security checks and passport controls will be carried out in the transfer zone.
Here, too, routes will be more simply and easier to follow, and the level of comfort will be enhanced thanks to a new service area for non-Schengen passengers.
