Centralised security checks

Centralised security checks are to be introduced for outbound passengers as part of the "Zürich 2010" project. A new security check building is currently under construction in front of the Airside Center, between Check-in 1 and 2.

In most areas of the airport, and in the centrally located Airside Center, passengers can currently move freely without having undergone any security checks.  Decentralised checks are performed shortly before arriving at the departure gate. These decentralised checks will become a thing of the past once the new centralised security checks are implemented. All outbound passengers will undergo security checks at a central location. These checks will take place in the new security check building.

The security check building is currently under construction and will be opened at the same time as the new Dock B on 1 December 2011. The centralisation of security checks provides passengers with more time to make use of the shopping and catering facilities, thus improving comfort. New retail spaces for duty-free products are planned for the transition areas to the Airside Center.

Spanning four floors, the new building offers ample space for a total of 26 security check lines. This will determine and simplify the routes taken by outbound passengers.  The centralised security checks can be accessed directly from Check-in 1 and 2, immediately after the automated boarding pass control.
