Volcanic eruption in Island: Air traffic in Zurich suspended starting midnight
Due to the volcanic eruption in Island air traffic at Zurich Airport is expected to be suspended starting 00:00 CEST until 09:00. Passengers are advised to contact their airline.
The cloud of volcanic ashes will arrive over Switzerland during the night. Thus the Federal Administration of Civil Aviation issued a closure of Swiss airspace starting 00:00 CEST until 09:00 CEST. As a result, air traffic from and to Zurich Airport will cease during that time.
Passengers are advised not to come to Zurich Airport and to contact their respective airline for further information on the status of their flights.
