Zurich-Airport, November 6, 2003: Unique (Flughafen Zürich AG) will neither take over the cantonal real estate properties nor the land. As part of the outsourcing of the former FDZ (Flughafendirektion) into the newly founded airport enterprise Unique, the management intended in the year 2000 that Unique would take over the cantonal real estate properties and land which werebought by the Canton of Zurich from 1970 until 1999.
Contrary to the original planning (see Annual report 2002, page 83 - pdf-file is available on www.uniqueairport.com) the concerned real estate properties and land - whose purchase price amounted to 64,5 Mio. Swiss Francs - will remain in the possession of the Canton of Zurich. Due to the different economic situation, Unique (Flughafen Zürich AG) will renounce from the purchase. The sales contract which was already signed on 20.12.2002 was dissolved with the permission of the Council of the Canton of Zurich.
