Due to the volcanic eruption in Iceland, air traffic at Zurich Airport was suspended from April 16, 2010 midnight to April 20, 2010, 8.00am. During this time around 1’950 air traffic movements were canceled. The impact on the revenue is around 2 million Swiss Francs per closed day.
As air traffic was not immediately operating at 100 percent before and after the reopening, around 3’000 air traffic movements were annulled until today. During the whole period until today Zurich Airport recorded a cumulated loss of revenue of about 7 to 8 million Swiss Francs.
As it is not foreseeable how many passengers will make up their flight at a later time, it is at this time not appreciable if the guidance for the full year 2010 of 3 to 5 percent passenger growth has to be adjusted. If necessary, we will adjust this guidance at appropriate time. In the first quarter 2010 passenger figures increased by 8.4 percent compared to last year.
