Check-in options for your flight
Choose the check-in option which is the most convenient for you. Depending on the airline, you may be able to check in the night before, at a self-service check-in machine at the airport, at your local SBB railway station, or at home using the online or mobile check-in service.
Transfer times from the check-in desks to the gates
Gates A: 15 to 20 minutes
Gates B: 15 to 20 minutes
Gates D: 20 to 25 minutes
Gates E: 20 to 30 minutes
Check-in at the desk
Check-in areas 1 and 2 are located just before the entrance to the passenger area, while Check-in 3 is located directly above the airport train station.
Save time by checking in at a self-service check-in machine at Zurich Airport. Rail passengers can go to Check-in 3 for a straightforward self-service check-in. This is located directly above the train platforms. It is also possible to check in with baggage at the self-service machines and this service is offered by the following airlines.
Check-in the night before
Some airlines allow you to check in the night before.

The online check-in allows you to check in easily and conveniently from the comfort of your own home. To check in online, all you need is Internet access and your flight details. You can check in directly via the website for your airline. You can print out your boarding card at home.
You can then hand over your baggage at the „Bag Drop“ counter in the respective check-in area at Zurich Airport. Below you will find the links to the websites of the various airlines that offer an online check-in service.
Mobile check-in takes place via the website for your airline. You can find the relevant link in the overview under „Mobile check-in“. Your boarding card is sent directly to your mobile phone by SMS/MMS. Depending on the airline, baggage is either handed over at the normal check-in desk or at the specially designated bag drop for customers who have checked in online, which is located in the respective check-in area at Zurich Airport.
If the battery of your mobile phone is flat or you have forgotten to bring your mobile phone with you, you can print out a paper boarding card or have one printed out for you at any time at a self-service check-in machine, at the baggage handover desk or at the airport check-in desk.
Railway station check-in
A complete check-in service incl. baggage drop is available at over 50 Swiss railway stations. You will receive your boarding card at the train station check-in once you have handed over your baggage.
The SBB website provides information on which airlines allow you to check in at a train station. Information is also available on 0900 300 300 at a rate of CHF 1.19/min.
The railway station check-in service is generally possible from 24 hours prior to departure for scheduled flights and by 04:00 p.m. the day before for charter flights (max. 24 hours prior to departure). Handover times for railway station check-in are available on the SBB website.

Please have the following documents with you when you check-in at the railway station:
- Plane tickets for all passengers with a booking
confirmation or electronic ticketing number
- If necessary: visa
The maximum weight for an item of baggage for railway station check-in is 32 kg. If the baggage volume exceeds the amount stated on the ticket, you will not receive your boarding card until you reach Zurich Airport and have paid the excess baggage charge.
Bulky items such as bikes, surfboards, items of baggage over 32 kg, etc. cannot be checked in at the railway station.
If railway station check-in is not possible for your flight, SBB will transport your baggage to Zurich Airport for CHF 22. You can collect it at the SBB counter and check it in yourself so that you don't need to worry about carrying your baggage.
Fly Rail Baggage
With this service, baggage carried to Zurich from any airport in the world by any airline is delivered directly to the Swiss railway station of your choice. You can receive your baggage conveniently at the SBB railway station of your choice.
