In order to ensure safe and stable operations at the airport throughout the year and in all weather conditions while taking account of statutory and political requirements, the airport needs different operating concepts.
The operating regulations stipulate which runways must primarily be used for take-offs and landings at which times of the day. In this context, the political and statutory requirements and the varying lengths of the runways need to be considered, and it must be ensured that safe flight operations are possible even under changing weather conditions.
This framework results in three different operating concepts for the airport with defined take-off and landing runways and the related departure and approach routes. Depending on the approach direction, these are designated the north, east and south concepts.
