Premiere: Bombardier CS 100 visited Zurich
The newly developed aircraft set to replace the Avro RJ100 fleet at SWISS from 2016 attracted many spectators last week.
The Bombardier type CSeries CS 100 aircraft landed in Zurich on 17 June 2015 and was welcomed by the airport fire brigade with a water shower, a brigade of follow-me vehicles and a SWISS delegation. Many aviation fans seized the opportunity to watch this european premiere up close from observation deck B.
After a press conference and opportunities for SWISS employees to visit the hangar on Thursday, 18 June 2015, the aircraft took off from Zurich on the morning of 19 June 2015.
SWISS will replace the current 20 aircraft in its Avro RJ100 fleet with the completely newly developed Bombardier CSeries. This will take place in stages over a two-year period, starting in 2016.
Special features of the Bombardier CSeries 100
Thanks to innovations in cabin design, passengers can look forward to considerably increased comfort. What's more, the new aircraft is also only around half as loud for human ears. Thanks to state-of-the-art technology, the new aircraft sets new standards for economy and environmental friendliness in terms of its engines, systems and materials. Fuel consumption will be up to 25% lower than that of the Avro fleet.
