CFO Daniel Schmucki steps down
The long-standing Chief Financial Officer of Flughafen Zürich AG, Daniel Schmucki, has been appointed Chief Financial Officer of SIX Group. He leaves Flughafen Zürich AG no later than end of March 2017.
Daniel Schmucki (48) joined the former Flughafen-Immobilien-Gesellschaft at the end of 1999 and has significantly influenced the development of Flughafen Zürich AG from the beginning. Since 2008 he has served as Chief Financial Officer and member of the management board and has held the overall responsibility for all financial matters and international activities of the company.
Daniel Schmucki now wants to face a new professional challenge and has therefore decided to accept the offer of SIX as its Chief Financial Officer. He will start his new task no later than April 1, 2017 and leave Flughafen Zürich AG at the end of March 2017 at the latest. The precise exit date is determined once the succession plan is clarified. Flughafen Zürich AG has started the search process for the successor and will inform at the appropriate time.
Daniel Schmucki has accompanied the airport on the front line in the process of its privatization and listing of Flughafen Zürich AG by a secondary public offering on the Swiss stock exchange. He also played a key role in crisis management and stabilization of the company in the aftermath of the bankruptcy of Swissair Group and the project management of the 5th expansion phase with an investment volume of more than CHF 2 billion.
In his time as CFO profitability has steadily improved, debt was reduced and the financing of the company was completely renewed. The funding for the major project «The Circle», the new charges regime defining the regulated revenues and the further expansion of the international business are milestones, which fell in his time as CFO as well. Flughafen Zürich AG is now on a rock-solid financial and accounting base and well prepared for future challenges.
Daniel Schmucki has carried on his activity with persistence and distinctive intuition. In his role, he has gained recognition and respect in Switzerland and abroad. The board of directors and the management board regret Daniel Schmucki’s decision to leave the company very much and thank him for his personal, outstanding commitment and his excellent performances in the last seventeen years.
