Blancpain Ocean Commitment Exhibition
Blancpain invites travelers and visitors of the Airside Center at Zurich Airport to discover the fascinating underwater universe, and to share its commitment for the preservation of the oceans.
Driven by a resolutely pioneering spirit since its founding in 1735, Blancpain’s historical connection with diving reaches back more than half a century to 1953, with the presentation of the world’s first modern diving watch: the Fifty Fathoms.
In recognition of this heritage, Blancpain is dedicated to the cause of ocean exploration and preservation, and has worked to raise awareness of these issues through support for important scientific projects, ocean exploration initiatives, underwater photography, environmental forums, public exhibits, major publications and a dedicated website. Combined efforts in all of these arenas are expressed globally as the Blancpain Ocean Commitment. The brand is very proud of the results of its initiatives, especially the doubling of the protected ocean surface area with the addition of more than 3,000,000 square kilometers.
The Ocean Commitment exhibition at the Airside Center focuses on the Gombessa Project, a collaboration with marine scientist, distinguished underwater photographer, and pioneer in the use of new diving equipment, Laurent Ballesta. The project, which has been conceived to advance the public’s comprehension of hitherto inaccessible and dimly understood undersea ecosystems, has already given rise to three major expeditions. In addition, the exhibition presents the new Ocean Commitment Bathyscaphe Chronographe Flyback limited edition among a selection of current and vintage Blancpain diving watches.
