Changes in the 2017 summer flight timetable
The summer timetable features new destinations and various increased service frequencies. As a new airline here, Air China will operate a Zurich–Beijing route from June.
New airline: New Air China flights to Beijing
From 7 June 2017, the Star Alliance member will be offering four flights a week to Beijing. The flights will operate on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
SWISS opening five new destinations
For the first time, flights will be available to Bergen, Norway's second-largest city and the departure point for Hurtigruten cruises. Nature lovers will be able to take advantage of direct flights to the southern Irish city of Cork, the start of the Wild Atlantic Way. The other new flight destinations are Sylt, Figari in Corsica and Niš in southern Serbia.
Three new long-haul flights from Edelweiss
The Swiss holiday airline will now be flying to Costa Rica and San Diego, and Cancun will be reappearing on the timetable. Flights to Cancun will commence on 16 April 2017 and will continue twice a week throughout the year. From 9 May, flights will operate to Costa Rica on Tuesdays and Fridays and, from 9 June, to San Diego on Mondays and Fridays.
easyJet now offering a total of nine destinations from Zurich
In the summer, easyJet will be adding flights to Naples, Nice and Venice, and continuing its existing services to Amsterdam, Berlin Schönefeld, Lisbon, Hamburg, London Gatwick and London Luton.
Vueling adds Prague and Mallorca
The Spanish airline will be operating three new weekly flights to Prague and Palma de
Mallorca and will continue flying to Barcelona, Rome, Alicante, Malaga, Lisbon, Porto, Santiago de Compostela and the Canary Islands.
Germania offering new summer destinations
Germania will serve a total of thirteen destinations in nine countries. The new flight destinations are Jerez de la Frontera, Marsa Alam, Rostock and Niš.
Fly Transavia to Amsterdam
The Dutch airline has been operating three flights a week to Amsterdam since February 2017, which is set to increase to four from April 2017.
Increased frequencies for TAP Portugal, Oman Air and Air Malta
TAP Portugal is doubling the number of its flights to Porto compared with the summer 2016 timetable, and will now be flying twice daily. Oman Air will be flying daily to Muscat instead of six times a week as previously, while Air Malta is increasing its flights to Malta to up to eleven flights a week.
Qatar Airways introduces the Airbus A350 in Zurich from April
The Qatari airline is the first to introduce the new Airbus aircraft in Zurich. The Airbus A350 XWB is faster and more efficient than other passenger aircraft and offers a generous feeling of space thanks to its extra-wide body and panoramic windows. Moreover, as of September 2017, Qatar Airways will increase its number of flights out of Zurich to its award winning hub in Doha from seven to eleven per week.
