5 questions for Sandra Bürgi
This section presents a person who gets things moving at Zurich Airport. Today it's the turn of Sandra Bürgi, Team Leader at the Kuoni travel agency.
What do travel agents at the airport do?
A wide variety of things. First of all, you can book all types of holidays and trips with us in the normal way. But we can also help with last-minute changes, for example with rebookings or if you miss your flights. It's also possible to pay for bookings made earlier.
Have you been bitten by the airport bug?
Before working for Kuoni, I previously worked at the airport too, for Swissport. I think I caught the airport bug in my cradle – until he retired, my father worked for the cantonal police at the airport, and my mother works for CGS. So we're an "airport family" through and through.
Are there amusing moments during your everyday work?
Passengers often come to us with all their luggage because they think we're a check-in desk. There's certainly no shortage of variety here.
What do you like most about your work?
I love the contact with all sorts of different people and cultures. You never know what the day will bring, and that makes it varied and stimulating. We have a fantastic job. After all, who doesn't like planning their next holiday?
Are there any difficult moments?
Of course there are challenges from time to time. For example, if a customer misses a flight and their entire holiday falls through because there are no seats free on the next flight, you really feel for them.
