Decommissioning of "VOR Trasadingen" navigation system

Over the coming months, the take-off and landing procedures at Zurich Airport are to be switched to modern satellite-based navigation methods. As a result, the conventional "VOR Trasadingen" navigation system will be gradually decommissioned until February 2020.

The conventional aviation navigation system VOR (Very High Frequency Omni-Directional Range) at Trasadingen (Canton Schaffhausen) is operated by the air traffic control provider skyguide. As the take-off and landing routes are being switched to modern, satellite-based navigation methods, the system will be gradually decommissioned until February 2020. In the first step, four flight paths for take-off from runways 32 and 34 to the east and west will be adapted by 28 March 2019. The minor adjustments were published today in the Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP). The satellite-based navigation methods are more accurate and will result in a greater concentration of flight tracks on the routes in question.
