Environmental protection at Zurich Airport
Flughafen Zürich AG is actively committed to environmentally friendly airport operations and reducing its environmental impact. The environmental guidelines map out a clear direction.
To honour its responsibilities in accordance with its environmental policy, Flughafen Zürich AG has implemented systematic environmental management since 2001, certified to the ISO 14001:2015 standard.
Key data are reported by means of systematic data management and used to illustrate the environmental situation and how it evolves. Drawing on these key data, legal and official requirements, and the environmental guidelines, environmental portfolios are compiled for the individual business divisions, revealing the importance of the various environmental issues. Appropriate measures are then derived and their impact monitored.
Environmental project management ensures that all construction projects are evaluated in terms of their ecological impact, not only during the construction phase, but also with regard to their subsequent usage. They are then assigned the relevant environmental supervision. The environmental regulations for construction projects stipulated by Flughafen Zurich AG are an integral part of the tender terms and construction contracts and are generally regarded as the environmental standard for the implementation phase. These regulations can be defined in more detail depending on the project.
