Aim and implementation
To prevent local residents from additional awakenings by early-morning inbound flights, the bedrooms of the residential areas under the southern landing path will be fitted with automatic window drives or sound-absorbing ventilators.
In Phase 1 a total of 900 properties in Opfikon, Wallisellen, Zurich-Schwamendingen, Stettbach and Gockhausen are affected.

With Phase 2 of the south-side sound insulation concept, Flughafen Zürich AG is responding to a requirement from the Swiss Federal Administrative Court regarding the subsequent submission of a supplementary concept on the basis of a level of noise measurement. This new concept was available to the public from 29 January until 28 February 2018. The Federal Office of Civil Aviation is expected to issue a ruling on Phase 2 in the course of this year.
