Construction of further parking facilities
Flughafen Zürich AG built additional parking facilities, thus creating the necessary infrastructure for the airport to handle the expected growth in passenger numbers over the next 10 years on the landside.
The demand for passenger parking spaces is greatest at the main airport complex. The main priorities are short distances and easy access to the check-in facilities. The same applies to parking spaces for flight crews. The crews' workstations for flight preparations are located in the Operation Center, adjacent to car park 6.

The project involved extending the existing 12-storey car park 6 to the east. The exterior of the south side was designed to match the existing car park, with the continuous design of the façade creating the impression of one single complex.
The complex is accessed via the existing entrance on level 3 on the west side of car park 6. Vehicles leave the car park complex via a shared exit bridge on level 4 and an exit to the south on level 1.
Structurally, the extension is a composite steelwork/concrete assembly and is physically independent of the car park 6 building. The column grid of P6 east was optimised to enable the potential use of the base.
